This Sunday - Feb 19th the Blues have a match against Culdose at Culdrose. 10.30 KO
Another exciting and a well played football match by both teams. The pitch was in good condition and the grass was short. The Goats started well and were soon fealing comfortable on the ball and were putting through some great balls and passes. However every shot on goal was saved by a keeper who was on excellent form. However after 10 minutes the Culdrose N0 7 managed to just create enough space for himself and squeezed off a super shot from outside the area into the top corner.
The Goats kept playing the same football as it just needed patience and not to panic. However with only 5 minutes of the half gone Culdrose won a corner and their superior height made the difference. With a beautifully flighted ball it was forcefully headed down into the goal. At 2-0 down at half time a few hints of doubt were beginning to show. The only advice was to shoot low as the goalie reactions were just too quick to try and beat him with anything at waist height or above.
I think the second half was a better half than the first, and after 5 minutes Wendron won a penalty. The holding of Yeshe at a corner in the penalty area was just a little too forceful. With the score 2-1 down the Goats upped the tempo, but this did not stop Culdrose playing some superb football that struck the post and on another occasion forced Danny to scramble out and defend as best as possible until help arrived and the shot went wide. A shot also nearly squeezed inside the near post and was fumbled away. With only 8 minutes left Lucas received the ball in space near the penalty box and as he advanced to the out rushing goalie he kept his nerve and timed a beautiful side foot shot through into the goal. With the game now equal the Goats took a little breather which allowed Culdrose to make some very dangerous breaks and luckily none found the net, but it was luck. With only a few minutes to go Aaron who had spent the whole match trying to just pip the goalie to the ball finally out played him to nick a ball into the net to make the score 3-2. The last minute was spent defending and shutting out the game as Culdrose tried to equalize but there just was not the time left. After losing 8-0 in the previous tie Culdrose have come on a long way and it was a shame for them that they were not able to hold onto their 2-0 lead.
