Wendron ‘Goats’ are currently the ‘Under 11′ football teams from Wendron FC in the 2011/12 season.
The 2011/12 Kernow League season has just finished for both Red and Blue teams. Both teams have got to the Final in the League Cup for their respective Leagues and these will be their last competative games playing mini-soccer in the Kernow League – 29th April 2012.
After these matches we will continue to play in 4 or 5 7v7 tournaments around the county. These happen from May through to July. We will also do some training and this year, 2012, we will be preparing for 9v9 football and the offside rule.
If there are any boys who would like to play for the Goats either in the Red or Blue team then please get in touch. This is the best time to get involved as we have the whole summer to get you used to the teams and comfortable on the ball. We are particularly looking for a goalie for the Red team. The Red team is only a year old and while it was the highest scoring team in its league, all the players are outfield players and took turns in goal.
The only requirements are enthusiasm – the rest can be taught. If you have already played for another team in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 season and are thinking of looking for a new club then get in touch or come to one of our training sessions.
If you don’t feel confident about playing competitive football just yet, then thats OK. You can still come to training to build up your confidence and skills. If you want to play in ‘friendly’ matches that are arranged throughout the summer and next season then you can do. And when you feel you are ready to play in the League, we can arrange to register you as a player. For example, for the 2010/11 we had 2 players who had never played in competitive football before. One has learnt his skills at an after school football academy and wanted to put his skills into action in real matches – and by the end of the season he was our top scorer. The other boy had just taught himself in his garden with his brothers and was wanting to progress.
The age group for this squad is anyone born between 1st Sept 2000 and 31st August 2001. We train on Tuesdays from 5.00 -6.30 pm on our 3G all weather surface under floodlights and then on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month from 10-11.30am. If boy in the area would like to come an join us they are more than welcome. Even if you are not an under 12 player for next season, Wendron FC will still have a team in your age group. Either turn up on a Saturday morning or try here and call the relevant coach for your age group.
The FA has strict rules for the age groups in competitive football and mini-soccer and if you end up wanting to play in competative matches in the Kernow League your age will be checked. The “AGE CHECKER” and will let you know in which team you will be eligable to play.
Club fees are £40 per year and that includes insurances, match kit ( except for socks) parental admission the club bar etc. There are no other fees required for the rest of the season except when we play home matches and we provide ‘sausage and chips’ for both teams when we ask for £1 to cover some of the costs. In order to make it easier on families, for a second child in any Wendron squad the fee is £20 and any third, forth, fifth … child is free.
Unfortunately from U12 onwards the FA require girls to play in seperate teams and at Wendron we don not have a girls team. Helston Fc is probably the closest with a girls team, but ring the CCFA for information on girls teams in the county.
