On Sunday it was a Cup match and although not the best football we won. So after all the Cornwall FA U15 teams had entered we were the last one standing.
But now it is back to the League, so on a chilly but bright evening the Goats played Culdrose for a second time in 2 days. As chance would have it , if we won then the League was ours.
On our home pitch, with the size of pitch, soft ground and low bounce we went into the match confident we would find the space and control we like and looked to repeat our previous league form against Culdrose and show the 6-1 win was not a fluke. Trafford was not used in the Cup Final as the conditions and tempo did not suit his ‘one touch’ football, but in this match it would be useful to use his ability to ship the ball fast to feet of supporting players and so switching the point of attack quickly, keeping the Culdrose players having to run further to press our players which is one of their tactics. He had a good game and so did the remainder of the squad with the first half seeing a quick attack and cross from Cameron for Yeshe to pass the ball into the net. In the second half the team put in 3 more goals, with a semi fit Scott coming on for 2 quick goals and then off again and Cameron running on a well placed diagonal ball from Yeshe.
Dale, Lennon, Floyd, Joe and Danny did their usual brilliant job in defence, with only a long range shot fro Sam Wallace needing tipping over the bar. Aaron, Andreas, Toby , Josh and Lucas bossed the midfield and Tom tirelessly worked away up front keeping the defenders occupied and buying space for the others and deserved a few goals for his workrate.
The match was played at a good tempo and appropriate and well executed tactics for the full 80 minutes.
So congratulations – Kernow League Premiership Champions 2016 –
